Pantasign is one of the Certifying Authorities we supply, alongside Prodigisign, VSign and eMudhra. If your certificate is being issued through Pantasign, this covers the parts applicants get stuck on.
The application, start to finish
Pantasign runs the whole application in one place. You sign in with your mobile number and an OTP — there is no username or password for applicants.
There are five stages:
- Verify mobile number and select the DSC category
- Email verification and submit the application form
- Upload documents and complete video verification
- Make payment, or choose Pay Later
- eSign verification and set your passcode
All five are meant to be completed inside a single 20-minute session. You can pause and resume later once your Application Number has been generated — before that point, stopping means starting over. So have your documents scanned and your phone to hand before you begin.
Video verification, step by step
This is the step that gets sent back most often.
- Open the application portal.
- Enter your mobile number.
- Enter the OTP.
- Go to Track, then Record Video.
- Start Camera, then Start Recording.
- Read the sentence shown on screen. Do not hold up documents — this recording is of you reading, nothing else.
- Submit.
Point six is the one people get wrong. Showing your PAN card or any other document to the camera is a common reason a video is rejected. Sit somewhere quiet with light on your face rather than behind you, and read the sentence at a normal pace.
Payment, eSign and passcode
Once documents and video are done, you complete payment, eSign verification and set a passcode:
If you chose Pay Later, remember that payment has to be completed before the certificate can be downloaded. The invoice is emailed to the applicant.
The mismatch that stops most applications
For an individual DSC, verification is PAN-based or Aadhaar-based, and Pantasign requires that:
- the name matches on both PAN and Aadhaar,
- the date of birth matches on both, and
- PAN and Aadhaar are linked.
A middle name on one and not the other is enough to fail it. It is worth checking before you apply rather than after the application is rejected.
For an organisational DSC there are two routes. Either another director authorises the applicant by authorisation letter, which allows a single video verification and KYC login, or an Authorised Signatory account is created first and their Signer ID is used to enrol the applicant. If you are not sure which applies to your company, ask us first — picking the wrong one means redoing the paperwork.
Downloading the certificate
Pantasign uses its own utility, PantaCharge, to write the issued certificate onto your USB token. It is a Windows download of about 12 MB, published by Pantasign:
Install your token driver first — if the driver is missing, the utility will not detect the token, which accounts for most “the utility is not working” calls. Drivers for every token we supply are on the downloads page, and the USB token guide will help you identify which device you have.
Utilities are not interchangeable between Certifying Authorities. If your certificate came from VSign instead, use the Vsign download utility.
